Don’t Like Me? So What?

VideosThis is good. I mean, really good. Hat’s off to Dave (again) for dropping this in my email box. I have to admit, I havent heard about “diggers” since the war stories that my uncles told me as a kid, and I’d never heard of Beccy Cole at all. For those of you as ignorant as I was, Beccy Cole is an Australian lass with quite the set of pipes (knock it off; I said pipes) who has been getting a lot of crap lately for her support of the Aussie troops in the war on terror.

Well, Beccy doesn’t seem to be the kind of girl who just sits back and takes guff like that. Although she doesn’t exactly put it the way I would (i.e.: Bleep off), she manages to get her point across pretty darned well. So turn up yer speakers, ladies and gents, and enjoy…

(Oh, yeah…  The song’s called “Poster Girl” and, gee whiz will ya look at that, it’s made the top of the CMR charts)

Hey, its funny...I really do have to hand it to Lorrie Goldstein over at the TO Sun sometimes. While I don’t agree with everything he writes (come to think of it, I don’t agree with everything that anybody says, Harper included), I do enjoy his wry observations of the assorted idiocies perpetrated against the Canadian public, whether they be by politicians, pundits, celebrities or whoever. In his column today, he takes aim at the soap-opera atmosphere that pervades the national political discourse of late. Hey, everybody needs a good chuckle every now and then, right?

On today’s episode of The Days of Our Dingbats:

Will Peter apologize to Belinda?

Will Belinda forgive Peter?

Will Peter’s dog forgive Peter and Belinda?

Will Tie confront Peter about Belinda?

Will Condoleezza confront Peter about Belinda?

Will Belinda tell Bill about Peter and Tie?

Will Jack forgive Peter if he apologizes to Belinda?

Will Canadians forgive Jack, Peter and Belinda for acting like a bunch of !@#?! idiots?

Will Garth and Stephen reconcile?

Will Garth find happiness with Elizabeth?

Will Stephen find happiness with … uh … Stephen?

Will Stephen and the Parliamentary Press Gallery eventually reconcile?

Will anyone care if Stephen and the press gallery reconcile?

Will Stephen and George continue to be friends?

Will Rona ever clear the air?

Will Michael and Bob ever be friends again?

Will Michael figure out what a “war crime” is?

Will Bob reveal his troubled past?

Will Rick and Bob ever go skinny-dipping again?

Will Bob ever play kissy-face with Rick again?

Will Canadians ever be able to look at either Rick or Bob again without losing their lunch?

Will Scott discover what happened to his leadership campaign by looking at his BlackBerry?

Will Jean and Paul reconcile at the Liberal leadership convention?

Will anyone care if Jean and Paul reconcile at the Liberal leadership convention?

Mainstream MediaAs usual, it’s the weekend and I’m just too damned lazy to complain about anything. So, also as usual, here’s a few somethings to keep everybody occupied before I go off on another rant. Some uplifting, some infuriating, but whatcha gonna do, eh? Can’t have everything go your way. Hope you find them as thought provoking as I did.

Mainstream MediaAs usual, when I don’t have a lot of time to go on a bunch of rants of my own, I’m just going to slap up a bunch of stuff that I came across on the net today that seems worth a look at.  Not that there’s something for everyone or anything like that, but from the slow but steady encroachment of radical Islam to the Catholic Mass, to Caledonia, there’s plenty for most.  Hope you find them as interesting as I did.

No one should live in fear

Now we know why, when there are so many moderate Muslims in this country, so few of them ever dare speak out against extremists. To do so could be a death sentence.

Iranian horror

Especially ghoulish is that some of these women got prison sentences of up to 15 years for other “crimes,” with the stoning death to be carried out at the completion of their sentence.

In nomine Patris et Filii…

Since the liturgical reforms of the Second Vatican Council, the old Tridentine mass has become almost a borderline human-rights issue within the Church.

Where’s the rule of law when you need it?
Lorne Gunter

Sunday, Ontarians — perhaps several thousands — angry at the eight-month-long occupation by native protesters of the Douglas Creek Estates subdivision near Caledonia, will rally at the disputed site to express their frustration that the illegal occupation continues despite several court injunctions ordering its end.

Dig in.

I know, I know; I grump and complain a lot here, but what’s the point of being conservative if you can’t be a grouch? I consider it one of the benefits. But man cannot live on grump alone, so every now and then, I like to post something that just tickles my funnybone. You know, silly stuff. Like this right here:

They blew that call

Our SoldiersWell, well; will you just look at this? It seems that in spite of all the liberal media’s, hounding, coaching, weeping and wailing, pissing and moaning, doomsaying and God only knows what else about the alleged faltering will of the Canadian public over the mission in Afghanistan, most of us just don’t seem to be getting the message.

That’s right; just like before, yet another poll has showed that the Canadian stance toward securing clear victory in the Afghan War is hardening, not wavering. Yessiree, it seems that us simpletons of the Great Unwashed just can’t get our little heads around the fact that the best way to deal with a tyrannical regime like the Taliban is to just run away and hide and hope that someone else will take care of the problem (preferrably the Yanks, so that we can criticize them for their intolerance later).

Sometimes I almost like polls, especially when they look like this:
