I like the way he thinks

No more Mr Nice GuySeems some folks want more on the Israeli-Lebanon / citizens of convenience thing. At least that’s what my emails are saying lately. Well, don’t worry. I’ll have more on that in due time but, like most other people in the counrty, my attention has been more occupied with domestic matters lately.

Believe me when I tell you that I’ve got plenty left to say and I don’t seem to be alone, either. More and more people that I run into are starting to ask the same questions and demanding the same answers. Like this guy right here, taken from today’s Freeps’ letters to the editor page:

As a refugee from Soviet hordes in 1944, and later as an employee of the UN International Refugee Organization in Europe, as well as a “genuine” Canadian since 1954, I wish to comment on the Lebanese-Canadians in Lebanon.

The mass hysteria by some (mostly liberal and NDP politicians, and the left-leaning media) about Conservative government’s purported dereliction of duty is deplorable.

Leftist politicians are wooing future voters rather than helping the evacuees. The media are spinning half-truths and outright lies, based on their beef with the Conservative government. Yes, we have legal responsibility to help genuine Canadians, but I do not believe that same obligation applies to the “convenient” Canadians.

It is refreshing to see many people, including some responsible MPs on both sides of the aisle, and several respected opinion makers, expressing the same thoughts.

Misuse of dual (or even multiple) citizenship, introduced by the Liberals 30 years ago, will no doubt be addressed by Prime Minister Stephen Harper in due course.

In the meantime, let us hope that the evacuees being brought back to Canada at Canadian taxpayers’ expense will appreciate this generosity and stop complaining and blaming our government for their supposed neglect to provide air-conditioned buses, ferries and accommodations.

That didn’t take too long

Vive le Canada!Wow. That was fast. As you know, I got on a little bit of a rant yesterday about so-called “Canadians” trapped in Lebanon (and bitching their heads off about the government’s handling of the biggest mass evac since Dunkirk) that weren’t really Canadian at all (except on paper). Seems I’m not as alone on that one as some of the eflamers I’ve been hearing from would like me to think.

Mainstream MediaFrom coast to coast today, writers such as Peter Worthington, Rick Bell and more are questioning not only the follies of dual citizenship, but also numerous other glaring flaws in our heads-in-the-sand immigration policies. From the Lebanon evacuation fiasco to the inability to deport rapists or even murderers and terrorists to countries where they “may be mistreated,” cobwebs are shaking loose every damned place you look. Even MPs are starting to talk about “waking up and checking the common sense meter.” (Gee whiz; what trumpet’s that angel gonna blow next?)

Ontario MP Garth Turner is about as blunt as they get:

“We are talking about people, some who went back to Lebanon after the last conflict. They don’t pay taxes here, they don’t live here, they don’t have a loyalty here. We’re not their first country. They have a first country,” explains the parliamentarian, who describes himself as “just a little soldier asking who passes before they get to the public treasury.

“That’s where they have their house, their car, their bank account, their dentist. I ask: You moved out of this country and you’re not contributing here. Why would we come and get you? Or why would we do it for free?

No more Mr Nice Guy“I’m getting a huge reaction, and not from racists who hate people with brown skin. The issue is: What the hell are we doing? People scratch their heads when they hear about 40,000 Canadians in Lebanon. Are there really 40,000 tourists? That’s a hell of a lot of tourists.”

It seems that the latte-lifting eggheads’ grip on public opinion is beginning to slip some. I can hear the egotistic ejaculations from their prodigious pieholes now:

“Oh, my God; the unwashed masses are starting to think for themselves! Next they’ll start demanding… well, I don’t know what. That in order to be called Canadian you actually have to be Canadian or some such horrible thing?? It’ll be the end of multiculturalism! The country will fall apart! The dead will rise to eat the living! The Tories will get a majority! EEK!”

Sounds good to me. Well, good if we can get the zombies to start with the Liberals. Once they run out of those, we nasty rednecks can just shoot the little undead buggers and then get on with fixing the country.

Even the tiresome Harper-bashing from the lefties, which never really lets up but has changed tune in keeping with the current situation and the PM’s support of Israel’s response, is beginning to wear damned thin. As Earl McRae reports, plenty of people you wouldn’t expect are getting just plain sick of it.

Amen.

Yes, it can happen here

TerrorismThat didn’t take long, did it? Just when the usual suspects were popping out of the woodwork to scold us for our paranoia, a deadly plot (involving three times the explosives used in the deadly Oklahoma City bombing) was uncovered in Toronto to target innocent Canadian citizens for nothing other than being who we are. CTV coverage (and plenty of it) can be found here. On the other hand, the Ministry of What You Should Think has chosen the typical, sheepish, goodthinker angle.

Following a massive raid, authorities have released the following names and addresses of the adult suspects in an al-Qaida-inspired domestic terror cell:

  • Fahim Ahmad, 21, of Robinstone Drive, Toronto
  • Zakaria Amara, 20, of Periwinkle Crescent, Mississauga
  • Asad Ansari, 21, of Rosehurst Drive, Mississauga
  • Shareef Abdelhaleen, 30, of Lowville Heights, Mississauga
  • Qayyum Abdul Jamal, 43, of Montevideo Road, Mississauga
  • Mohammed Dirie, 22, Kingston
  • Yasim Abdi Mohamed, 24, Kingston
  • Jahmaal James, 23, of Trudelle Street, Toronto
  • Amin Mohamed Durrani, 19, of Stonehill Court, Toronto
  • Steven Vikash Chand alias Abdul Shakur, 25, of Treverton Drive, Toronto
  • Ahmad Mustafa Ghany, 21, of Robin Drive, Mississauga
  • Saad Khalid, 19, of Eclipse Avenue, Mississauga
  • Five more suspects cannot be named because they are under 18 and therefore fall under the protection of the YCJA. Isn’t that nice? We have now shown every terrorist-minded bugger in the world exactly how to target his recruitment techniques in order to obtain a perfectly anonymous operative in Canada. These aren’t a few dumb kids that got caught joyriding or pinching a CD from the local music shop; these little bastards were planning to murder hundreds of people, if not more. We have every right to know exactly who they are, where they are, and what they’re up to every waking moment of their lives from now on.
